Paddy O’Brien Tune Collection, Volume Three

2013-05-11 15.41.11

Paddy has been hard at work on the THIRD volume of his colossal Paddy O’Brien Tune Collection since last fall. He’s got more than 300 tunes recorded, ready to be mixed and mastered; he’s working as well on the companion booklet with stories and information about the tunes. To help cover production costs, we have enlisted help from Kickstarter.com, a website that helps creative people find investors for their latest projects. Those interested in making an investment in the project’s historic preservation and perpetuation of Irish traditional music can read more here:

Money raised through Kickstarter.com will go toward production costs for The Paddy O’Brien Tune Collection Project, Volume Three (10-12 CDs in a handy wallet, plus a printed booklet containing background notes and information on each tune). We’re also digitizing this volume, as we have done with the previous two, which means that those who prefer MP3 format will be able to download whole albums or individual tunes, and can receive the booklet as a PDF file. We’ve set a fundraising goal of $6,300 at Kickstarter.com.

The campaign launched on October 1, and offers various rewards for different levels of investment in the project. Those who invest $10 will receive a download card for a full album of tunes from Volume Three; those who back the project at the $225 level will receive:

A signed copy of Paddy O’Brien Tune Collection, Volume Three (CDs and printed booklet), plus a signed copy of Paddy’s memoir, THE ROAD FROM CASTLEBARNAGH, plus a Paddy O’Brien Tune Collection tee!

All investors will also receive acknowledgment in the tune collection booklet.

Of course, with any Kickstarter project, time is of the essence—the fundraising deadline is SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30.

Volume Two of the Paddy O’Brien Tune Collection is expected to go on sale to the general public in July 2014; Volume One  and Two are still available from Paddy’s website:  https://paddyobrien.net/tune-collection/.
